building house for under 100k – how to build adobe homes » Homes Photo Gallery
I didn’t mind the heat so much, I was simply glad to be outside. However it did slow the rate of our progress at the construction website.
I’ll admit that building houses was perhaps not in my own job description. A smile crossed my head, not because I felt refreshed, however because I was truly content. I recognized a gentle breeze that unexpectedly swept across the scene and required my thoughts with it. My mind began to wonder. How did I arrive here?
For several years I had the dream of living abroad, learning a new language and experiencing another culture. Are not there something more alive than routine and monotony? Sometimes I’d often wonder if a lot of people were really waking at the morning inspired by the job that they were doing and how their lifestyles were unfolding. I needed a change. I needed to eventually become consciously involved in something positive that could provide me with a sense of purpose. Does that also exist, and if yes where do I sign up? Perhaps it’s easier said than done. Can anyone really transform the world? I wanted to discover.
Habitat just started a fresh International Volunteer Program (IVP) to get long term volunteers and I had been the very first to go through the app. My official name was that the Volunteer Coordinator for Latin America & the Caribbean. I believed that this was an enormous opportunity since the organization was constructed and existed on the support of volunteers. Beginning I had been a bit on edge, but in due time I found my groove within the Habitat framework. It was incredible – that I was actually enjoying office work. I took part in the growth of substances such as a volunteer manual, meeting guides, and evaluation forms. I worked with a taskforce for its continuous advancement of the IVP program. I even handled an on-site volunteer training program in El Salvador. Yet the greatest part in my job was really getting to work along with other volunteers, those who were there not because that they must function but have there been simply because they desired to be.
So far as the volunteers were concerned my job was to coordinate housing and arrival logistics, administer orientations, and encourage them through the duration of their stay. There is this type of charisma between the volunteers I’d simply take it a step further and plan weekend trips and after work outings. We wound up not just altering the lives of others, but shifting the lifestyles of one another.
Normally as I could I’d break away from the workplace and take volunteers build trips to Habitat building landscapes throughout Costa Rica. It was heart warming to see firsthand the culmination of job. Out at the sight we would work together with the benefitting Habitat family that was always very receptive, helpful, and respectful of the help. The spectacle was a amazing amalgamation of civilizations, economic backgrounds, and beliefs. Yet the common bond which tied us together wasn’t that the simple notion of building a home. Just watching everybody else working, laughing, grinning, and sharing generated a feeling so rich with emotion it made me rethink the way I recognized riches. Your house was emblematic greater than just a place of residence. It symbolized a unity, a coming together, and an inherent comprehension of equality which we’ll carry together to the rest of our own lives. As cliché as it might sound, it had been true. We were not just building homes, we were building lives.
Internationally or conflict settlement or human rights, the surroundings – it’s disheartening to consider there are so many methods to get involved and give back to the global community. However, these issues exist to not create despair but activity. It doesn’t matter where you start to start making positive contributions equally so long when you make the decision to actually start somewhere. Ultimately, this really is one of the toughest decisions to make. Did I eradicate poverty housing? Not even close. Did I succeed? Definitely! The serenity of my experience taught me that I cannot get rid of poverty home, which directed me into the answer I was searching for. Perhaps one man can’t change the entire world, however, the entire world can surely change for a single individual. And it has this domino effect, that should disperse across the globe we can, together, achieve the unimaginable and make a world that reflects the warmth of mankind in the place of its indifference.
