building house near sea – English Houses: Residential Buildings England e architect
I didn’t mind the heat, I was just glad to be out. But, it did impede the rate of our progress at the construction site. It was grinding job between digging, mixing concrete, laying blocks, and bending rebar, all which I had little to no working knowledge in.
I will acknowledge that construction houses was perhaps not in my own job description. When I sat there with my back against a tree I poured a half jar of cool water over my head. A grin crossed my face, not because I felt much more refreshed, but because I was truly pleased. I welcomed a gentle breeze that unexpectedly swept across the landscape and required my thoughts withit. My mind began to wonder. Just how did I get here?
Wasn’t there something more to life than regular and monotony? At times I would often wonder if most everyone was really waking up at the morning inspired by the job they were doing and how their lives were unfolding. I needed a switch. I wanted to eventually become actively engaged in something positive which will provide me with a sense of purpose. Does that even exist, and if yes where can I subscribe? Perhaps it’s easier said than done. Yet, I finally chose and started to realize this fantasy when I traveled to Costa Rica to a whim and found myself volunteering with Habitat for Humanity International. Can one person really change the world? I needed to discover.
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and making decent, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and actions. Habitat just started a new International Volunteer Program (IVP) to get long-term volunteers and I had been the 1st to experience the application. I felt that this was a tremendous opportunity since the company was built and existed on the aid of volunteers. Starting out I was a bit on edge, in due time I found my groove over the Habitat framework. It was unbelievable – I was actually enjoying office work. I took part in the development of substances such as a volunteer manual, meeting guides, and test forms. I caused a task force for the continuous improvement of the IVP program. I even administered an onsite volunteer training plan in El Salvador. The greatest part in my job was having to work alongside other volunteers, people who weren’t because that they had to function but have there been simply because they wished to become.
So far as the volunteers have been concerned my job was to coordinate housing and arrival logistics, then administer orientations, and support them during their stay. There was this type of charisma amongst the volunteers I would take it a step farther and plan weekend trips and after work outings. We ended up not simply altering the lives of others, but shifting the lives of one another. Working with Habitat gave me the confidence to feel I can accomplish any job, however more importantly it gave me a more genuine sense of pride in to be ready to perform hard at work worth doing.
As often as I could I would break away from the workplace and accept volunteers on build trips to Habitat construction sights during Costa Rica. It was heart warming to see first hand the culmination of your job. Out at the sight we’d work alongside the benefiting Habitat family who was always very open-minded, friendly, and respectful of the help. The scene was a wonderful amalgamation of cultures, economic backgrounds, and beliefs. The frequent bond which tied us together wasn’t the easy notion of developing a home. Only seeing every one working, laughing, smiling, and sharing generated a feeling so rich with emotion that it made me reconsider how I defined wealth. Your home was emblematic of more than only a place of dwelling. It represented a motto, a coming together, and an inherent understanding of equality that we’ll carry together to the rest of our lives. As cliché as it might sound, it was authentic. We’re not only building homes, we were building lives.
Internationally or domestically, conflict settlement or individual rights, the environment – it’s disheartening to consider that there are many methods to get involved and give back to the international community. But these dilemmas exist to not create despair but activity. It isn’t important where you begin to begin making positive contributions just as long as you make the decision to actually start somewhere. Fundamentally, this is among the toughest decisions to create. I decided the movement of eliminating poverty housing. Can I eradicate poverty housing? Maybe not even close. Can I succeed? Definitely! The calmness of my experience taught me that I alone cannot do away with poverty housing, which directed me to this answer I was searching for. Perhaps 1 man can not change the world, but the planet can surely change for a single person. And it has this domino effect, that if disperse throughout the globe we can, collectively, reach the unthinkable and make a world that reflects the heat of humanity in the place of its indifference.
