building house stages – Various stages in construction
The sun beat down from overhead with this kind of intensity I was breaking out in a sweat whilst sitting in the color. I used ton’t mind the heat so much, I was just glad to be outside. However, it did slow the rate of the progress at the construction site.
I will acknowledge that building houses was perhaps not in my own job description. When I sat there with my back against a tree I pumped a half bottle of water over my mind. A grin crossed my face, not because I felt more joyful, but because I had been truly satisfied. I recognized a gentle breeze that suddenly drifted across the landscape and required my thoughts withit. My mind started to wonder. How did I arrive here?
Wasn’t there something more alive than regular and monotony? At times I would often wonder if most people were really getting up at the morning motivated by the job that they were doing and how their lives were unfolding. I needed a change. I needed to become consciously involved in something positive that could provide me with a sense of purpose. Does that even exist, and if yes where do I subscribe? Can one person really transform the world? I needed to discover.
Habitat only started a new International Volunteer Program (IVP) to get long term volunteers and I had been the very first to go through the app. I believed this is a tremendous opportunity since the company was built and existed on the aid of volunteers. Beginning I had been a bit on edge, in the time I found my groove over the Habitat framework. It was incredible – that I was actually enjoying office job. I took part in the development of substances such as an volunteer manual, meeting guides, and test forms. I caused a task force for its continuous advancement of this IVP program. I handled an on-site volunteer training regime at El Salvador. The best part in my job was having to work alongside other volunteers, those who weren’t because that they had to be but have there been only because they desired to be.
So far as the volunteers have been concerned, my role was to coordinate housing and coming logistics, then administer orientations, and encourage them throughout their stay. There was this type of charm between the volunteers I would take it a step farther and plan weekend trips and after-work excursions. We wound up not just changing the lifestyles of many others, however, shifting the lives of each other.
As often as I could I would break away from the workplace and accept volunteers build trips to Habitat construction sights throughout Costa Rica. It was heart warming to see first hand the culmination of one’s work. Out at the sight we would work together with the benefitting Habitat family who was consistently very receptive, helpful, and respectful of the help. The spectacle was a fantastic amalgamation of cultures, economic backgrounds, and beliefs. The frequent bond that tied us together wasn’t that the very simple thought of building a home. Just watching every one working, laughing, grinning, and sharing created an atmosphere so rich with emotion it made me reconsider the way I recognized riches. Your home was emblematic greater than only a place of residence. It represented a unity, a coming together, and an inherent understanding of equality which we’ll carry with us to the remainder of our own lives. As cliché as it might sound, it was true. We were not only building homes, we were building lives.
Internationally or conflict resolution or individual rights, poverty or the surroundings – it’s disheartening to think there are many ways of getting involved and give back to the international community. However, these problems exist to not create despair but activity. It doesn’t matter where you start to start making positive contributions just for as long as you make your choice to actually start somewhere. Eventually, this is among the toughest decisions to make. Did I eliminate poverty housing? Not really close. Did I succeed? Absolutely! The serenity of my experience taught me that I can’t eliminate poverty home, which led me into the answer I was searching for. Perhaps one man can’t change the entire world, but the world can definitely change for a single person. And it has this domino effect, which should spread across the planet we could, together, achieve the unthinkable and make a world that reflects the warmth of mankind in the place of its indifference.
