building house start to finish – Atchison Construction Inc
I didn’t mind the heat, I was only glad to be outside. However, it did slow the speed of our progress at the construction site.
I will acknowledge that construction houses was not in my own job description. As I sat there with my back against a tree I pumped a half bottle of water over my head. A smile crossed my head, not because I felt more refreshed, but because I was truly pleased. I welcomed a gentle breeze which suddenly swept round the landscape and took my own thoughts with it. My mind began to wonder. How can I get here?
Wasn’t there something more alive than regular and monotony? Occasionally I would often wonder if most people were really waking up in the morning inspired by the job they were doing and how their lives were unfolding. I wanted a change. I wanted to become actively involved in something positive which would give me a feeling of purpose. Does that exist, and if yes where can I subscribe? Perhaps it’s easier said than done. Yet, I finally took the initiative and began to see this dream once I traveled to Costa Rica in a whim and found myself volunteering with Habitat for Humanity International. Can anyone really transform the world? I wanted to discover.
Habitat just started a brand new International Volunteer Program (IVP) for long term volunteers and that I had been the initial to go through the app. My official title was the Volunteer Coordinator for Latin America & the Caribbean. I felt this was an enormous opportunity since the organization was constructed and existed on the aid of volunteers. Getting started I had been a bit on edge, but in the time I found my groove over the Habitat framework. It was unbelievable – I was actually enjoying office job. I participate in the evolution of materials like an volunteer manual, interview guides, and test forms. I caused a task force for its continuous improvement of the IVP program. I even handled an on site volunteer training regime at El Salvador. The greatest part about my job was really getting to work alongside other volunteers, those who weren’t because they must function but have there been only because they wished to become.
So far as the volunteers have been concerned my job was to coordinate housing and coming logistics, administer orientations, and support them throughout their stay. There is such a charisma amongst the volunteers I’d go on it a step further and plan weekend excursions and after-work outings. We wound up not just changing the lives of others, however, changing the lives of eachother. Dealing together with Habitat gave me the confidence to feel I could accomplish virtually any endeavor, however more importantly it gave me a more genuine sense of satisfaction in being ready to perform hard at work worth doing.
Normally as I could I would break away from the workplace and take volunteers build trips to Habitat construction sights during Costa Rica. It was heartwarming to see first hand the culmination of your job. Out at the sight we would work together with the benefitting Habitat family who was always very receptive, helpful, and respectful of our help. The scene was a fantastic amalgamation of civilizations, economic backgrounds, and beliefs. The frequent bond that tied us together wasn’t the very simple thought of developing a home. Only watching everybody else working, laughing, grinning, and discussing created an atmosphere therefore rich with emotion that it made me reconsider the way I recognized wealth. The house was symbolic greater than just a place of residence. It symbolized a unity, a coming together, and an inherent comprehension of equality that we’ll carry with us to the rest of our own lives. As cliché as it might sound, it was true. We were not just building homes, we were building lives.
Internationally or domestically, conflict settlement or human rights, the environment – it’s disheartening to believe that there are many ways to get involved and give back to the international community. But these dilemmas exist not to create despair but activity. It isn’t important where you begin to begin making positive contributions equally for as long when you make the decision to actually start somewhere. Ultimately, this really is one of the toughest decisions to produce. I decided the movement of eliminating poverty housing. Can I eliminate poverty housing? Not even close. Can I succeed? Absolutely! The serenity of my experience taught me that I alone can’t get rid of poverty home, that directed me to the answer I was looking for. Perhaps one man can not change the world, but the planet can certainly change for one person. And it has this domino effect, which if disperse across the planet we could, collectively, achieve the unimaginable and make a world that reflects the warmth of mankind as an alternative of its own indifference.
