building house using shipping containers – Using Shipping Containers For Storage Container House Design
I used ton’t mind the heat so much, I was just happy to be outside. But it did slow the rate of our progress at the construction website. It was grinding job between digging, mixing concrete, laying cubes, and bending rebar, most that I had little to no practical experience in.
I’ll admit that building houses was not in my own job description. A grin crossed my head, not because I felt more refreshed, but because I was truly happy. I recognized a gentle breeze which unexpectedly swept across the scene and took my own thoughts withit. My mind started to wonder. Just how did I get here?
For several years I had the dream of living abroad, learning a new language and experiencing another culture. Wasn’t there something more alive than routine and monotony? Occasionally I would often wonder if a lot of everyone was really waking up in the morning motivated by the job they were doing and how their lifestyles were unfolding. I had a switch. I needed to become actively involved with something positive which would provide me with a sense of purpose. Does that even exist, and if so where do I subscribe? Yet, I finally chose and began to realize this fantasy when I traveled to Costa Rica to a whim and found myself volunteering with Habitat for Humanity International. Can anyone really change the world? I wanted to learn.
Habitat only started a new International Volunteer Program (IVP) for long-term volunteers and that I was the 1st to experience the application. My official name was that the Volunteer Coordinator for Latin America & the Caribbean. I believed this is an enormous opportunity since the company was constructed and existed on the support of volunteers. Getting started I had been a bit on edge, but in the time I found my groove over the Habitat frame. It was unbelievable – I was actually enjoying office job. I participate in the creation of substances such as a volunteer manual, interview guides, and evaluation forms. I worked with a task force for the continuous advancement of this IVP program. I administered an onsite volunteer training plan at El Salvador. Yet the greatest part about my job was to work along side other volunteers, people who weren’t because they must function but have there been simply because they desired to be.
So far as the volunteers have been concerned my role was to coordinate home and coming logistics, then administer orientations, and encourage them during their stay. There was such a charisma amongst the volunteers I’d often take it a step farther and plan weekend trips and after-work outings. We ended up not simply altering the lifestyles of many others, but shifting the lives of each other.
Normally as I could I would break out from the office and take volunteers build trips to Habitat building landscapes throughout Costa Rica. It was heart warming to see first hand the culmination of your job. Out at the sight we’d work alongside the benefiting Habitat family that was consistently very receptive, helpful, and appreciative of the help. The spectacle was a great amalgamation of civilizations, economic backgrounds, and beliefs. The common bond which tied us together wasn’t the simple notion of creating a home. Only watching everyone working, laughing, smiling, and discussing generated an atmosphere so rich with emotion it made me reconsider the way I defined riches. The home was symbolic greater than only a place of dwelling. It represented a motto, a coming together, and also an inherent comprehension of equality that we’ll carry together to the rest of our lives. As cliché as it may sound, it was true. We were not only building homes, we were building lives.
Internationally or domestically, conflict resolution or individual rights, the environment – it’s disheartening to believe that there are many ways to get involved and give back to the international community. However, these problems exist to not create despair but activity. It isn’t important where you start to start making positive gifts just so long as you make the choice to actually start somewhere. Fundamentally, this really is among the toughest decisions to make. I picked the movement of eliminating poverty housing. Can I eliminate poverty housing? Maybe not even close. Did I succeed? Definitely! The serenity of my experience taught me that I alone can’t do away with poverty housing, which directed me into this answer I was looking for. Perhaps 1 person can’t change the world, however, the planet can certainly change for one individual. And it has this domino effect, which should spread throughout the planet we could, collectively, achieve the unimaginable and create a world that reflects the heat of mankind in the place of its own indifference.
