building house verse – 9286197769 8a6ef4dc9e z
I used ton’t mind the heat, I was simply glad to be outside. However, it did impede the rate of the progress at the construction site.
I will acknowledge that construction houses was perhaps not in my job description. A grin crossed my face, not because I felt much joyful, however because I had been truly pleased. I welcomed a gentle breeze that unexpectedly swept round the landscape and took my thoughts withit. My mind began to wonder. How can I arrive here?
For many years that I had the dream of living abroad, learning a new language and experiencing another culture. Are not there something more alive than regular and monotony? Occasionally I would often wonder if most everyone was really waking in the morning motivated by the work that they were doing and how their lives were unfolding. I needed a change. I wanted to become actively engaged in something positive which will provide me with a feeling of purpose. Does that exist, and if yes where do I sign up? Can anyone really transform the world? I needed to find out.
Habitat only started a brand new International Volunteer Program (IVP) for long term volunteers and that I was the very first to go through the program. I believed this is an enormous opportunity since the organization was constructed and existed the support of volunteers. Beginning I was a bit on edge, but in the time I found my groove over the Habitat frame. It was incredible – that I was actually enjoying office work. I participate in the creation of materials like an volunteer manual, meeting guides, and evaluation forms. I caused a task force for its continuous advancement of the IVP program. I handled an onsite volunteer training regime at El Salvador. Yet the best part about my job was getting to work alongside other volunteers, those who weren’t because that they must function but were there only because they desired to become.
As far as the volunteers were concerned my role was to coordinate home and coming logistics, then administer orientations, and encourage them throughout their stay. There was such a charisma between the volunteers I would often take it a step farther and plan weekend trips and after-work excursions. We ended up not just altering the lives of many others, however, shifting the lives of one another. Working together with Habitat gave me the confidence to feel I can accomplish some job, but more importantly it gave me a more real sense of satisfaction in being ready to perform hard at work worth doing.
Normally as I could I’d break away from the workplace and take volunteers build trips to Habitat construction sights throughout Costa Rica. It was heartwarming to see first hand the culmination of job. Out at the sight we’d work alongside the benefiting Habitat family who was always very open-minded, friendly, and appreciative of the help. The spectacle was a great amalgamation of cultures, economic backgrounds, and faith. Yet the common bond which tied us together wasn’t the simple notion of building a home. Just watching every one working, laughing, grinning, and sharing generated an atmosphere so rich with emotion that it made me reconsider how I recognized riches. Your home was symbolic of more than only a place of residence. It symbolized a unity, a coming together, and also an inherent understanding of equality which we’ll carry with us to the remainder of our own lives. As cliché as it might sound, it was true. We were not only building homes, we were building lives.
Internationally or conflict settlement or human rights, the environment – it’s disheartening to consider that there are so many ways of getting involved and give back to the global community. It isn’t important where you start to get started making positive gifts equally as long when you make the decision to actually start somewhere. Ultimately, this really is among the toughest decisions to create. Did I eliminate poverty housing? Maybe not even close. Did I succeed? Absolutely! The calmness of my experience taught me that I alone cannot get rid of poverty housing, that led me to this answer I was looking for. Perhaps one man can not change the planet, however, the planet can definitely change for one person. And it’s this domino effect, that should spread across the globe we can, together, reach the unimaginable and create a world that reflects the warmth of humanity in the place of its own indifference.
