building vs house – Building Green Houses Through Hemp Tiny Hemp Houses
The sun beat down from overhead with such intensity I was breaking out in a sweat whilst sitting in the colour. I used ton’t mind the heat, I was just happy to be outside. However, it did impede the rate of the progress at the construction site. It had been grinding job between digging, mixing concrete, putting cubes, and bending rebar, most of which I had little to no working experience in.
I will acknowledge that construction houses was perhaps not in my own job description. A smile crossed my face, not because I felt more joyful, however because I was truly happy. I welcomed a gentle breeze which unexpectedly swept across the scene and took my thoughts withit. My mind began to wonder. Just how can I get here?
Wasn’t there something more to life than regular and monotony? At times I would often wonder if most people were really getting in the morning motivated by the job they were doing and how their lifestyles were unfolding. I wanted a switch. I needed to eventually become actively engaged with something positive that could give me a feeling of purpose. Does that exist, and if yes where do I sign up? Perhaps it’s easier said than done. However, I finally chose and started to realize this fantasy when I traveled to Costa Rica in a whim and found myself volunteering with Habitat for Humanity International. Can one person really change the world? I wanted to learn.
Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and making decent, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and activity. Habitat just started a new International Volunteer Program (IVP) for long term volunteers and that I had been the 1st to go through the app. I believed that this was a tremendous opportunity since the company was constructed and existed the support of volunteers. Starting out I was a bit on edge, but in the time I found my groove over the Habitat frame. It was incredible – I was actually enjoying office job. I participate in the evolution of materials such as an volunteer manual, interview guides, and test forms. I caused a taskforce for the continuous advancement of this IVP program. I handled an on site volunteer training plan in El Salvador. Yet the best part about my job was really getting to work along with other volunteers, people who weren’t because that they must function but were there simply because they wanted to become.
As far as the volunteers had been concerned, my role was to coordinate housing and arrival logistics, administer orientations, and encourage them during their stay. There is this kind of charisma amongst the volunteers I’d often simply take it a step further and plan weekend trips and after-work excursions. We wound up not simply altering the lifestyles of many others, but shifting the lives of eachother. Working together with Habitat gave me the confidence to believe I can accomplish virtually any job, but more importantly it gave me a more genuine sense of pride in to be ready to work hard at work worth doing.
Normally as I could I’d break out from the office and accept volunteers build trips to Habitat construction sights throughout Costa Rica. It was heartwarming to see firsthand the culmination of one’s work. Out at the sight we’d work together with the benefitting Habitat family that was consistently very open-minded, friendly, and respectful of our help. The spectacle was a fantastic amalgamation of civilizations, economic backgrounds, and beliefs. Yet the frequent bond that tied us together wasn’t the simple thought of developing a home. Just watching everyone working, laughing, grinning, and discussing generated a feeling so rich with emotion it made me rethink the way I recognized riches. Your house was symbolic greater than only a place of residence. It represented a motto, a coming together, along with an inherent understanding of equality which we’ll carry together to the remainder of our own lives. As cliché as it might sound, it had been authentic. We’re not just building homes, we were building resides.
Internationally or domestically, conflict resolution or human rights, poverty or the surroundings – it’s disheartening to think there are many methods of getting involved and give back to the international community. It doesn’t matter where you start to get started making positive gifts just for as long when you make your decision to actually start somewhere. Fundamentally, this is among the toughest decisions to create. I picked the movement of eliminating poverty housing. Can I eradicate poverty housing? Not even close. Did I succeed? Absolutely! The calmness of my experience taught me that I alone can’t do away with poverty home, which led me to this answer I was looking for. Perhaps one person can not change the entire world, but the planet can surely change for a single individual. And it has this domino effect, which should disperse throughout the planet we could, together, reach the unthinkable and make a world that reflects the heat of humankind instead of its own indifference.
